Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical position specializing in post-operative colorectal surgery care, with a minimum of 18 months of experience and Cerner EMR proficiency required.
Details
- Work is performed on a Medical-Surgical unit (3 North) specializing in post-operative care of colorectal surgery patients
- Unit cares for patients requiring negative-airflow rooms; candidates must be fit-tested for an N95 mask or trained on PAPR device use
- Patient ratio is 1:5–6
- Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- Travelers are expected to work every other weekend, with the possibility of consecutive weekends based on operational needs
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned as needed, with training and resources provided
- Floating may be required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Cerner EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Graduation from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience required

- COVID vaccination is required; medical or religious exemptions are accepted with appropriate documentation
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be approved automatically
- Former permanent or PRN employees of this health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
- If a contracted shift is missed, the shift must be made up within the pay period or will be added to the end of the contract
