Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Step Down Unit position requiring oncology/chemo experience and ONCC or ONS certification, with night shift scheduling and every-other-weekend availability.

Details

• Step Down Unit (GMU) within a hospital setting, caring for general medical and oncology stepdown patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6, with support staff available when ratios flex higher and reduced assignments for chemo admits
• Skills required include administering chemotherapy via IV and peripheral IV insertion
• Equipment used includes Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
• Epic EMR used for documentation
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Every other weekend required; weekends are assigned by the manager/scheduler, with remaining days open to self-scheduling
• Floating required to other Med/Surg areas, including the Acute Unit and ED, to care for Med/Surg patients
• No on-call responsibilities
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and either ONCC or ONS certification (ONC must be in hand; pending ONS will be accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience required
• Oncology and chemotherapy experience required
• Experience administering chemotherapy via IV and starting peripheral IVs required
• Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

• Charge RN is not typically included in patient assignments, providing additional leadership support on the unit
• Block scheduling may be accommodated — include any specific scheduling requests when applying
• Must be available and on-site for the first two weeks of the assignment
• Any time-off requests submitted after an offer is extended must be discussed directly with the on-site manager
