Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step-Down/Oncology position requiring oncology/chemo experience and ONCC or ONS certification, with every-other-weekend availability.

Details

• General medical/oncology step-down unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes general med and oncology step-down patients, including chemotherapy admissions
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6, with support staff when ratios flex higher
• Administers chemotherapy via IV and performs IV starts
• Equipment used includes Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
• Epic EMR used for documentation
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required; weekends are assigned by the manager/scheduler, with remaining days available for self-scheduling
• Floating required to other med-surg areas, including an acute unit and ER, to care for med-surg patients
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• ONCC or ONS certification required — ONC must be in hand; pending ONS certification will be accepted
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/step-down experience required
• Oncology/chemotherapy experience required
• IV chemotherapy administration and IV start skills required
• Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

• Charge RN is not typically included in the patient assignment, providing additional unit leadership support
• Chemotherapy admissions result in reduced patient assignment ratios
• Block scheduling may be accommodated — include any specific scheduling requests when applying
• Must be fully available during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Any time-off requests made after an offer is extended must be approved by the on-site manager
