Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a night shift Emergency Dept position at a Level III trauma center, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift schedule, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, with weekends required
- 13-week travel contract
- Emergency department in a 93-bed community hospital with 11 ED beds and a monthly volume of approximately 1,100 patients
- Serves patients of all ages, from neonates to elderly, across ESI levels 1–5
- Patient ratio of 4–5:1, based on an average ESI level 3 acuity
- Cares for stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis patients
- Designated Level III Trauma Center, ACC Chest Pain/STEMI Center, and Joint Commission Acute Ready Stroke Center
- EMR: EDIS Medhost; medication dispensing via Omnicell (no barcode medication administration in this department)
- Required clinical skills include PIV, port access/deaccess, foley placement, NG/OG tube placement, wound care, and splint/OCL application
- Ultrasound-guided IV placement available and preferred
- Must be able to assist with arterial line, central line, and chest tube placement
- Floating to other departments is required; travelers and permanent staff share the same float rotation (average of 1 float shift per 13-week contract)
- Psych patients are boarded in the ED pending placement; night shift RNs are responsible for making placement calls for psych patients
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
- No certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
- Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required
- Minimum 1 year of prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency in triage and rapid patient assessment required
- Valid driver's license required
- US Social Security Number required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- RNs are responsible for ensuring EMTALA paperwork is completed in accordance with regulatory and hospital policy guidelines
- On night shift, RNs are responsible for mixing some medication drips using a vial-to-bag adapter
- The department uses a direct-to-bed model whenever possible and operates as a team
- RTO requests must be for less than one week in duration
- Candidates who have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
