Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, ACLS, and telemetry skills in an active cardiac and vascular unit.

Details

• Work in a 33-bed PCU/Stepdown Unit (1W) in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, vascular, med-surg, post-cath, and post-pacemaker patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, acuity dependent
• Lines, drains, and devices include PICCs, dialysis catheters, PEG tubes, ostomies, foleys, chest tubes, NG tubes, tube feeding (Kangaroo pumps), and wound vacs
• Airway management includes trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow, high flow, and nasal cannulas; no ventilators
• Drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, Heparin, and Insulin; PCA pumps used for pain management
• Ancillary support includes 1–3 PCAs and a unit secretary (census/availability dependent), with phlebotomy available for lab draws
• Charting is performed in Epic EHR
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour PM shifts, every other weekend (EOW), and every other holiday (EOH)

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or valid Compact RN license currently in hand
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Telemetry/EKG rhythm interpretation skills required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry and stepdown/PCU nursing required
• Must provide proof of address (e.g., Driver's License, Voter Registration card, Federal Tax Return, Military Form 2058, or W2)
• Must provide full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) for consideration
• 1 supervisory reference required
• Copy of certifications required
• Nursys license verification required

Additional Information

• Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, develops and implements care plans, and evaluates treatment effectiveness
• Serves as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and with family members or caregivers
• Clinically manages patients with multi-system organ failure and/or multisystem trauma
• Nurses are required to read and verify telemetry strips once per shift in Epic
• A pass/fail EKG test is administered on the first day with two attempts allowed; a study guide will be provided
• Navy blue scrubs are required

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
