Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a travel ICU position in Carlsbad, NM, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and the ability to float to the ER and Med-Surg departments.
Details
- 12-bed ICU in an acute care hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM
- 13-week contract
- Patient ratio of 1:2–3 in the ICU
- Floating required to the ER and Med-Surg departments on a rotation basis managed by a float log; float assignments may be overridden by charge or house supervisor based on clinical need
- When floating to ER, the nurse assists with tasks such as answering call lights, passing meds, transporting patients, starting IVs, and drawing blood — not a full patient assignment
- When floating to Med-Surg, the nurse may take a full assignment of up to 6 patients or may function in an aide role covering up to 12 patients
- EMR: MedHost
- No on-call required
- Holiday coverage required
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (must not expire within the first 30 days of assignment)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- ER and Med-Surg experience required
- TNCC preferred
- Experience with ventilators, titratable drips, and medication mixing preferred
- Active driver's license required for consideration
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Fingerprinting required for all travelers working in New Mexico
Additional Information
- Scope of care includes total patient care in the ICU: ventilator management, titratable drips, and hygiene care
- Any scrub color is acceptable
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
- RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
- Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any CHS facility within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
- Blocked scheduling may be accommodated if requested upfront
