Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Long Term Care (LTC) position in Seward, Alaska, requiring prior travel experience and an active AK RN license in hand.
Details
- Long Term Care (LTC) facility with 40 total staffed beds
- Patient ratio of 1:20
- Schedule is 4x12-hour shifts (variable) or 3x12-hour shifts (variable) at the traveler's choice
- Shifts are either days (7:00–19:30) or nights (19:00–7:30); rotation between day and night shifts is not typically required, though occasional exceptions may occur for urgent staffing needs
- Assignment length is traveler's choice of 13 or 26 weeks
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required, including between facilities within the state
- No on-call responsibilities
- Block schedules are not available
- Charting system: ECS
- Free on-site parking available
Requirements
- Active Alaska (AK) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS certification required
- Prior LTC nursing experience required
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
- At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty or setting
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and proof of personal vehicle insurance (including rental car coverage) required
Additional Information
- All travelers are required to obtain the Alaska Food Worker Certification, which is completed during on-site orientation — a one-time $10 fee applies
- Any scrub color is acceptable
- Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- RTO is limited to no more than 2 weeks for a 26-week contract and must be submitted at the time of application — RTO requests after an offer or contract signing will not be considered
- Travelers must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's); willingness to work all holidays is preferred
- The facility will arrange a vehicle for the traveler's use during the assignment for local transportation within a 30-mile radius — traveler is solely authorized to operate the vehicle
- The vehicle is available no earlier than 72 hours before the contract start and must be returned no later than 24 hours after the contract ends, cleaned and with a full tank of gas
- Travelers must turn in the vehicle during any time off and will be issued a new vehicle upon return
- Refusal to float may result in assignment termination
