Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic proficiency and strong telemetry and cardiac care skills.

• Position is in a PCU (General Medicine/Observation) unit within a large, Magnet-designated acute care hospital and Level I Trauma Center
• Hospital is a primary teaching facility affiliated with a medical school and is nationally ranked for advanced cardiac care
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Patient ratio: 1:4–5 (goal of 4:1, typically 5:1)
• Telemetry is monitored remotely, with monitors remaining on the unit; tele-sitting is used to supplement Patient Care Tech support
• Floating within skillset is required
• Epic EMR experience is required
• One holiday must be worked per 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license required; a pending license is accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Experience in telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown settings required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, Rapid Response and Code team protocols, and administration of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose Dopamine/Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix) without titration
• Competency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Skills required in chest tube management, trach care, PICC line management, and medication administration
• Respiratory management skills required: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management
• PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
