Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) Med/Surg position in Corpus Christi, TX, requiring at least 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience and proficiency in patient transfers and EMR systems.

Details

• 13-week contract working night shifts (7P–7A) in an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF)
• 15-bed unit located on the 3rd floor of a hospital setting
• Patient population consists of inpatient rehabilitation cases at capacity of 15 patients
• Patient ratios are 5:1, with a maximum of 6:1
• Night shift staffing includes 1 charge RN (takes full patient load), 2 RNs, and 1 CNA
• Equipment used includes VS machines, Hoyer lift, sliding boards, EKG machines, and bladder scanners
• EMR system is Meditech; Pyxis is used for medication dispensing
• Floating is required across Med/Surg, Telemetry, Renal, Urology, Orthopedic, and Overflow units between two hospital campuses (Bay Area and DRMC) — ICU is excluded from floating
• Every other weekend is required, along with holiday coverage
• On-call is seldom required and typically only when overall hospital census is low

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Proficiency in patient transfers is required
• EMR proficiency required
• Rehab experience preferred
• Rehab scoring documentation experience preferred
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Daily responsibilities include patient transfers, bladder scans, dressing changes, and medication administration
• Bedside report/handoff, hourly rounding, and bed alarm activation are standard unit protocols
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• One professional reference is required (two references required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
