Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Urology/Nephrology position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

Details

  • 25-bed Medical Surgical Urology/Nephrology unit within a 562-bed Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
  • Average daily census of 23 patients
  • Day shift schedule: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (3x12-hour shifts)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required to other Med/Surg units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charting via Cerner (experience required)
  • Free parking available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation

Requirements

  • Active Illinois (IL) RN license required — pending licenses are not accepted
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
  • Med/Surg and telemetry setting experience required
  • Proficiency with remote telemetry monitoring and Rapid Response Team protocols
  • Genitourinary/renal experience required: pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
  • IV therapy skills required: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line and PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Heparin administration experience required
  • Respiratory care experience required: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen
  • Proficiency with isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome — candidates should demonstrate a solid foundation in Med/Surg nursing
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
  • Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • RTO of more than 5 days requires facility approval
  • Any RTO or scheduling requests should be disclosed upfront
  • Solid-color scrubs of any color are acceptable
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years are required
