Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a mixed-acuity Med/Surg Oncology unit, with night shift availability and oncology experience preferred but not required.

Details

• Mixed-acuity PCU/Med-Surg Telemetry unit specializing in medical oncology patients
• Approximately 24 PCU beds and 24 Med-Surg Tele beds
• Patient population includes a variety of solid tumors and some blood cancers; high acuity
• Staffing ratios aim for 1:4-5 but may vary based on unit needs
• Night shifts, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Day/Night rotating contract option available; shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
• Self-schedule requests are accepted prior to final schedule posting
• Weekend shifts are variable
• Float required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Equipment includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, Bladder Scanner, Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, and Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS (BCLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or oncology nursing experience preferred; oncology experience is not required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Chemotherapy competency is not required; optional 2-day chemo training course is available for interested candidates
• Pediatric patients are occasionally present on the unit but are extremely rare and typically cared for by permanent staff; pediatric experience is not required
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility do not require a 30-day break between assignments to change representation
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
