Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed-acuity PCU/Med-Surg Telemetry Oncology position with night shift availability and a preference for prior travel experience.

Details

• Mixed-acuity PCU/Med-Surg Telemetry unit within a cancer hospital setting, with approximately 24 PCU beds and 24 MS Tele beds
• Patient population consists of medical oncology patients with diagnoses ranging from solid tumors to blood cancers
• High-acuity patient population requiring close monitoring and infection prevention protocols
• Staffing ratios target 1:4–5 and may vary based on unit needs
• Night shifts (7p–7:30a), 3x12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend shifts are variable
• Self-scheduling: candidates submit preferred schedule requests prior to the final schedule being posted
• Orientation consists of one week of Mon–Fri day shift followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit precepted orientation
• Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Equipment used includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, bladder scanners, and continuous bladder irrigation systems

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS (BCLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg or PCU/Telemetry experience; oncology experience preferred but not required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Chemotherapy administration competency is not required

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to high-acuity medical oncology patients with a strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
• Chemo certification is not required; however, the facility offers a 2-day chemotherapy course for interested candidates seeking professional development
• Pediatric patients are occasionally cared for on this unit but are extremely rare; pediatric experience is not required
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility do not need a 30-day break between assignments to change representation
