Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (Oncology) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a cancer hospital and research setting
- Patient population includes oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, soft tissue malignancy cases, and patients requiring symptom management and comorbidity management
- Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
- Continuous cardiac monitoring is a core component of patient care on this unit
- Patient ratio is 1:4
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Rotating day/night contract is available — shift assignments may include days, nights, or a combination based on departmental needs, reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Charting is done in Epic (experience required)
- Special equipment includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
- Contract length is 16 weeks
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Required clinical skills include: dysrhythmia interpretation, port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV insertion, assistance with chest tube insertion/removal, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and ABG interpretation
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

- All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
- No 30-day break between assignments is required when changing representation at this facility (except for Sterile Processing Techs)

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
