Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring interventional Cath Lab experience and active AL or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 4-room Cath Lab/Cardiovascular Recovery (CVR) unit at a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
  • Required patient experience includes STEMI/NSTEMI, LHC/RHC, CHF, Angina, ACS, AFib, IABP/Impella, CTOs, staged/protected PCI, pericardiocentesis, and temporary pacers
  • EP, vascular, PE, and hybrid/structural cases (e.g., Watchman, TAVR, PFOs, pacemakers, ablations) are performed in the lab but prior experience in these areas is not required
  • Daily caseload of approximately 20–25 patients
  • EMR: Cerner (experience required); hemodynamic monitoring via XPER (Philips), IV pumps: Plum 360, medication dispensing: Omnicell
  • 12-hour day shifts, 0630–1900, three shifts per week (36 hrs/week)
  • On-call rotation includes approximately one call night per weekday week and one late shift per week; call and late shifts are never worked concurrently
  • Weekend on-call rotation: every 4th weekend, Friday end-of-shift through Monday at 0630
  • 30-minute on-call response time required; call rooms are available upon request
  • Floating possible to IR or Cardiovascular Recovery (CVR); no prior IR or CVR experience required

Requirements

  • Active AL RN license or compact RN license required (can be pending at time of consideration, but ETA must be provided)
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Minimum 1 year of interventional Cath Lab experience required (diagnostic-only experience is not sufficient)
  • Proficiency in groin site management, radial band management (VascBand), moderate sedation, drip titration, emergency drug knowledge, defibrillator/pacer use, cardiac rhythm recognition, and anticoagulant administration
  • Comfort with ventilator alarm management (distinguishing critical alarms from non-critical errors) required; hands-on vent management experience is not required
  • Reference from a charge nurse or above from the past 12 months required for consideration
  • DOB (day and month) and full SSN required for consideration
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • RN responsibilities include transporting patients to the recovery area post-procedure; daytime transporters are available for other transport needs
  • Unit support includes a Cath Lab Coordinator/Supervisor, RT (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), on-call Cardiologist, and an RRT/Code Team
  • Lead equipment is available for travelers who do not bring their own
  • New-to-facility travelers and those returning after 1+ year away receive 24 hours of classroom orientation, followed by 1–3 orientation shifts depending on comfort level
  • Travelers returning within the past year will have orientation based on their last date of service
  • Travelers who complete more than one assignment will be trained to monitor
  • Holiday coverage requires one major and one minor seasonal holiday per contract
  • RTO requests must be approved by the manager; block scheduling is not available upfront
  • Green scrubs are provided by the facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
  • An interview is required prior to any offer being extended
