Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical and Telemetry night shift position in Reno, NV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience and an active NV RN license

Details

• Work setting is a hospital Medical and Telemetry unit (South Meadows Tele - 400112)
• Patient population includes CHF, alcohol withdrawal, NSTEMI, sepsis, dysrhythmias, pneumonia, COPD, COVID, and post-procedure patients (pacemakers, ablations, cath lab, and OHS patients downgraded from ICU)
• Cardiac medication drips administered include non-titratable agents such as Cardizem, Lasix, and Nitro
• Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:15 AM
• Weekends, holidays, and some call shifts may be included in the schedule based on department needs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating may be required to ICUs (for telemetry/medically appropriate assignments), med/surg units, and a sister facility
• Epic EMR is used; training available during orientation or candidates may test out

Requirements

• Active NV RN license required prior to start (RNs who have never held a NV temp or perm license may still apply and must begin the application process immediately upon offer)
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
• Candidates must pass a telemetry competency exam, including identifying and measuring rhythm strips — failure of the exam will result in contract termination
• Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

• Provides comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinates care across a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative, patient-centered environment
• The facility is a nationally recognized, extremely high-volume hospital serving a 500-mile radius, operating at a pace comparable to a Level I Trauma Center
• Coverage for a minimum of 2 major holidays is required
• Blocked scheduling is not permitted
• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility must take a 13-week break after the end of their contract before returning
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; the facility does not extend contracts to compensate for RTO
