Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PACU position at a Level II Trauma Center in Green Bay, WI, requiring CAPA or CPAN certification and a minimum of 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience.

Details

• Works in a Perianesthesia unit with two PACU locations (Main and East) within the same building — daily staffing assignments determine which unit to report to
• Main PACU includes 33 pre/post rooms and 10 Phase I bays; East PACU includes 33 pre/post rooms and 17 Phase I bays
• Combined patient volume of 60–80 patients per day across both PACUs
• Patient population includes both pediatric and adult patients — inpatient, outpatient, and observation status
• Cases include general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery (spine and craniotomies), robotics, ophthalmology, ortho, cardiothoracic (thoracotomies/pericardial windows, no open hearts), ENT, endovascular, fistulas, bronchoscopies, post-cath, and post-IR/Neuro IR
• Occasional management of intubated patients or assist with intubation in the PACU setting
• Patient ratios: Pre-op 1:3, Phase I 1:2, Phase II 1:3
• EMR: Epic (required)
• IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Day shift, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday; set schedule with no weekend or holiday requirements
• Travelers float regularly between Phase I and Phase II Recovery areas across Main and East PACUs

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• CAPA or CPAN certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Phase I and Phase II PACU experience, with most recent experience within the last year
• Experience with the full range of surgical specialties listed, including plastics, ENT, pediatrics, bronchoscopy, cath lab, vascular, neuro/spine/craniotomy, ortho, GI, IR, ophthalmology, GYN, and urology
• Hard-stop skills required: arterial lines, TR bands, chest tubes, CBI, and Epic charting
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips
• Experience providing discharge instructions in a Phase II recovery setting
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Candidate middle name or initial required for consideration

Additional Information

• Facility is a 167-bed Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Level III Maternity Center, and Primary Stroke Center located in Green Bay, WI
• Experience recovering post-cath, bronchoscopy, and IR patients is highly preferred; candidates with minimal or no experience in these areas may require manager approval
• First-time travelers will be considered for candidates with extensive PACU experience
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
• Candidates who were previously staff at this facility's PACU are not eligible
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius requirement
• RTO is limited to no more than 4 days for the duration of the assignment
• A clinical interview is required
• Department support includes a Charge RN, CNA/LPN staff, Hospitalist 24/7, RT 24/7, Anesthesiologists/CRNAs, and bedside/nursing station telemetry (no Tele Tech)
• Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 eight-hour shifts in the department
