Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2-3 years of ER experience and prior completed travel assignments, working 11:00 AM–11:00 PM shifts in Salem, VA.

Details

• Work setting is a hospital Emergency Department with 27 beds and a staff of approximately 50 RNs and 25 medics
• Patient-to-nurse ratio is 4–6:1
• Shift hours are 11:00 AM–11:00 PM (day/evening)
• Four weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) are required within each four-week scheduling period
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating required
• Typical procedures include RSI, sepsis interventions, stroke protocol with tPA administration, central line placement, care of psychiatric patients, and EMTALA transfers
• EMR system is Meditech
• Candidates with high-acuity, fast-paced, high-volume ER experience and familiarity with 5:1 patient ratios are given priority consideration

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI (or accepted equivalent: SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA), and NIH Stroke Scale — all issued by AHA or ARC and must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
• Minimum 2–3 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience required
• Minimum 2–3 completed travel assignments required
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no Canadian SSNs accepted
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• Professional reference required (one for most states; two for Florida and Missouri)

Additional Information

• Preferred certifications include ENPC, NRP, and NIH Stroke Scale
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue or white
• Team-oriented, relaxed, and respectful candidates are noted as the best personality fit for this unit
