Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level III trauma facility, requiring 3+ years of L&D experience including C-section and high-risk OB care.

Details

• 13-week contract in an acute care hospital Labor & Delivery unit
• Level III trauma facility
• Unit consists of 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, 10 postpartum beds, averaging 1–3 births per day (approximately 830 births/year)
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• 12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule required
• On-call requirement of one shift per 4-week schedule
• May float to the ED or Med/Surg if experienced
• Nurses must be capable of functioning in both L&D and couplet care roles
• Charting system: Allscripts
• OB/Neonatologist is not in-house; 24/7 pharmacy and respiratory therapy on-site
• Support staff includes OB scrub tech, Patient Care Technicians, Health Unit Coordinators, and a Health Unit Secretary

Requirements

• Active AZ RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, NIHSS, and AWHONN Intermediate (or Advanced) Fetal Monitoring
• Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience required
• C-section experience required
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and appropriate interventions for fetal distress
• Experience caring for patients with pre-eclampsia and high-risk OB conditions
• Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to manage OB emergencies independently until provider arrives
• BSN not required

Additional Information

• Nurses must be proficient in managing OB emergencies given that an OB/Neonatologist is not in-house
• Nurses may be utilized in couplet care roles when census is low
• Orientation is held every Monday and consists of 8 hours
• First-time travelers are not explicitly noted as welcome; strong L&D background with high-risk experience is essential for this role
