Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ER Nurse Manager travel assignment requiring a minimum of 4 years of ED experience and active ED leadership background.

Details

• Acute care hospital Emergency Department in a management/leadership role
• ED unit features 8 beds plus a fast track area, separate triage area, and intermixed ER holds
• Facility is a STEMI-receiving and stroke center (no trauma designation)
• Average daily ED volume of approximately 50 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5 based on acuity
• Charge nurses are present and do take patient assignments
• Techs support unit secretaries, assist nurses on the floor, and assist in triage
• RT is available 24/7 and handles ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs; RNs are expected to work with RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow)
• No monitor techs; RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips
• RNs are responsible for drawing their own labs
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, DM, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and HTN
• Standard ER drip medications are used
• EMR: Epic
• 12-hour day shifts with weekend coverage as needed
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No floating requirements
• No holiday coverage required
• 2–3 day unit-specific orientation; clinicians must be on-site for the week of orientation even if initial modules are remote

Requirements

• Active KS RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 4 years of ED nursing experience required
• Prior ED leadership experience is required
• Required certifications (all must be active; AHA-issued): ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted
• BSN is not required
• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 60 miles from the facility
• A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
