Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg unit specializing in stroke and neurological/surgical patients, requiring at least 1 year of experience and an active GA or compact RN license.

Details

• Hospital Med/Surg unit setting with a 24-bed capacity
• Patient population includes adults through geriatrics with diagnoses including stroke, TIA, subdural hematoma (SDH), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and elective spinal surgeries
• Patient ratio is 1:6
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements
• EMR: Epic; medication dispensing via Pyxis; communication using SBAR

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience with stroke, TIA, TBI, SDH, and elective spinal surgery patient populations required

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO maximum of 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as one)
• No scheduling changes or alternate shift requests are permitted; the posted shift is firm
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of one full year before returning as a traveler
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
• Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
