Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department position at a STEMI and Stroke Certified community hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent ED experience and both Kansas and Missouri RN licenses in hand.

Details

• Work setting is a 240-bed community hospital with a 32-room combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department
• Patient ratio is 1:4
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• Evening shift, 3x12-hour shifts (1:00 PM – 1:00 AM)
• Every third weekend required, covering a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts within a 6-week schedule period
• Charting is done in Epic (experience required)
• Floating may be required to other metro Emergency Departments within the health system as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Navy scrubs required

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license required; both Kansas and Missouri licenses must be in hand prior to consideration, as floating between facilities may be required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent ED specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Pediatric ED skills required, including management of abdominal pain, asthma, burns, head injury, seizures, sickle cell crisis, respiratory infections, and more
• Psychiatric care experience required, including acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, and managing violent behavior
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV starts
• Respiratory skills required: chest tube insertion/management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilated patient management
• Medication administration experience required: continuous IV paralytics, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors
• Neurological experience required, including CVA management
• Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Additional required skills: isolation precautions, triage, and splint application/management
• Preferred skills: near drowning (pediatric) and procedural sedation administration
• 2 professional references required: one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a Charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• Candidate's home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include triage, emergency care for adult and pediatric patients, psychiatric patient management, and charge RN assignments as needed
• Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned by the unit
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Block scheduling is not available for this position
• Completion of 10–15 hours of online modules is required as part of onboarding compliance
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
