Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical unit position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, with night shift availability and proficiency caring for high-acuity respiratory patients.

Details

• Medical-Surgical unit within a hospital setting, all private rooms with the ability to convert to negative pressure as needed
• Specializes in high respiratory acuity patients including Hi-Flow, CPAP, BiPAP, COVID-19, blood transfusions, wound vacs, and specialty beds
• Adult to geriatric patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:6 on a 23-bed unit
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• Every other weekend required (approximately 5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice, including possible float to a sister campus
• No on-call requirements
• EMR: Epic; also uses Pyxis and SBAR documentation

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they meet the 2-year experience requirement
• Local candidates are accepted
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO maximum of 7 days per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of assignment
• Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work 2 and may request 1 holiday off for approval
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted — the posted shift is firm
• Candidates must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler
