Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in Marshalltown, IA, requiring telemetry strip reading skills and orthopedic/general surgery experience.

Details

• 16-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes telemetry, post-op surgical, orthopedic, and general surgery patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1
• Responsible for reading and measuring telemetry strips
• Drip management includes Insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hrs/week
• Every 3rd weekend rotation required
• Holiday rotation required if scheduled
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate RN license currently in hand
• Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications required (must be active, pending certifications not accepted)
• Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg and/or Telemetry experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Orthopedic and/or general surgery care experience required
• Telemetry strip reading and measurement experience required
• Experience with Insulin, Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone drips required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have a minimum of 24 months of current nursing experience
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 2 years preferred for consideration
• Candidates who were employed by the facility within the past 12 months may not be eligible for this position
• Holiday rotation is required; travelers are expected to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's)
• 13-week contract
