Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke Center of Excellence hospital in Concord, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and a willingness to float within a multi-facility region.
Details
- 457-bed acute care hospital designated as a Level 3 Trauma Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
- 40-bed ICU with a census consistently at capacity
- Patient population includes ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, high-flow oxygen (Opti-flow/BiPAP), overdose patients, CRRT, GI bleeds, and trauma patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1–3
- 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates who are not agreeable to this floating requirement should not apply
- EMR: Epic
- IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
- Unit-specific equipment includes Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont Rapid Transfuser, and LifeFlow
- Hardwire monitors and travel telemetry boxes used for cardiac monitoring
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in critical care skills including vasoactive and sedation drips, insulin infusions (Endotool), management of invasive lines (arterial lines, CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, ventilator management, blood product administration, and wound care
- Epic EMR experience
- Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- One professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- Department support includes CNAs (for ADLs, blood sugars, and lab draws), a charge nurse available 24/7, Respiratory Therapy 24/7, Hospitalist 24/7, and Intensivist 24/7; an IV/VAT team is also available
- RNs are responsible for phlebotomy; limited phlebotomy support is available within the hospital
- Orientation consists of NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any shortfall in contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
- Navy scrubs required
- Free designated parking is available on-site
- Unit culture is described as highly collaborative across both day and night shifts
