Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a 13-week outpatient surgical services contract requiring a VA or Compact RN license and at least 2 years of OR experience across multiple specialties.
Details
- Outpatient Pavilion OR setting with 6 operating rooms and an average daily census of 35
- Surgical specialties include General, GYN, Breast/Plastics, Urology, Ortho, Podiatry, Ophthalmology, ENT, and Endoscopy
- Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 7:00–15:30, Monday through Friday
- No weekend or holiday shifts required
- Late-stay call sign-up is required
- Floating is in rotation with facility staff per Joint Commission standards
- Epic is the charting system; experience is preferred
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- BLS required; ACLS and CNOR preferred
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
- Proficiency across multiple OR specialties required, particularly Ortho, Breast/Plastics, Urology, GYN, and General Surgery
- Ambulatory OR experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Intraoperative scrub and circulating responsibilities across a broad range of surgical specialties
- All travelers must attend an Epic orientation class (accelerated or 2-day); travelers with recent Epic experience may test out with a one-day training session
- Up to 7 hours of non-billable orientation modules are required, completed during the onboarding period
- Flu vaccine is required during flu season (Oct 1–Mar 31); exemptions must comply with CMS guidelines
- COVID vaccination verification or a qualified exemption is required
- This is a smoke- and nicotine-free facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have at least 2 years of prior OR RN experience
- Candidates who were previously employed at this facility must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront; no RTO will be approved after an offer is made, and requests should be kept to a minimum
