Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ER Holding (Adult Admission) Unit position at a Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital in New Mexico, requiring telemetry skills and a valid NM or Compact RN license.
Details
- Adult Admission Unit (AAU) adjacent to the Emergency Department at a Level I Trauma, Children's, and Academic Teaching Hospital with 554 staffed beds
- The AAU functions as an ED holding unit, receiving admitted patients from the Emergency Department and initiating inpatient standard of care until placement on one of 11 progressive care units
- Patient population is diverse, covering all specialties except ICU-level acuity, with a mix of MS, MS/tele, and PCU acuity
- Unit consists of 17 beds with up to 8 additional hall beds
- Patient ratio is 1:4-5
- Requires the ability to manage frequent patient turnover, including both incoming admissions and outgoing transfers
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias are core functions of this role
- Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- 48-hour workweeks preferred
- Floating is required to: the ED for admitted patients, ICU for SAC assignments, and any inpatient PCU areas
- No on-call requirements
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- Block scheduling will be considered
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — RQI certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Telemetry experience required, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Proficiency in managing a variety of medical equipment
- Strong time management skills required
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Relief charge nurse duties may be required as needed
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval; all time off requests should be submitted upfront
- Black scrubs are required and are not provided by the facility
- No parking fee at this facility
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year mark at this facility are required to take a 6-month break before returning
