Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and EKG interpretation skills.
Details
- Night shift schedule (7p–7:30a), 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Medical/Surgical unit within a large short-term acute care hospital (1,266 staffed beds)
- Patient population includes acute renal failure, pneumonia, acute pancreatitis, UTI, encephalopathy/cirrhosis, sickle cell pain crisis, chest pain, COPD, acute asthma exacerbation, syncope/collapse, Type 1 diabetes, and ketoacidosis
- Patient ratios of 1:3–5
- Every other weekend is required
- Floating required within the service line
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting is done in Epic (experience required)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license from state of permanent residence required
- Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required skills include: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line and PICC line management, IV therapy, heparin and insulin administration, PCA management, colostomy/ileostomy care, wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, and non-invasive airway management (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC)
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- Valid driver's license required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of the assignment
- Permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required before returning
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Candidates must be clean-shaven or have facial hair that permits proper N95 fit testing — no exceptions
- No medical marijuana cards accepted
