Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float ICU/PCU position requiring Epic proficiency and comfort working across all ICU and PCU units at a large Level I Trauma Center.

• Position is a float role requiring comfort and competency across all ICU and PCU units
• Large, 703-bed acute care Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric) with Magnet designation for nursing excellence
• Academic teaching hospital affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
• Advanced specialty services including a dedicated children's hospital and certified Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• ICU patient ratio averages 2:1; PCU patient ratio averages 5:1
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, with potential to float 2–3 times per shift
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA state RN license or Compact RN license; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU nursing experience preferred
• Experience at a large Level I or Level II trauma facility required
• Proficiency in IV therapy: arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, IV initiation and maintenance
• Respiratory support experience: BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patient care
• Medication administration skills: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Wound care experience: surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs
• Cardiac monitoring: dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Endocrine/metabolic management: IV insulin protocol adherence
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
