Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NIHSS certification for night shift coverage.

Details

• 27-bed Medical Telemetry unit with an average census of 20
• Patient population includes stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 (acuity dependent, up to 1:7-8 during surge staffing)
• 12-hour night shift (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) as needed within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
• Supported by 24/7 phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, and telemetry monitoring techs
• CNA support available for foleys, IV discontinuation (if certified), vitals, and ADLs

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele experience required
• Proficiency in stroke assessments/NIH scale, chest tube management, PIV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management required
• Experience with medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

• First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered for the Resource Team
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
