Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Antepartum/Postpartum unit in Austin, TX, requiring at least 1 year of experience and a TX or compact RN license for a 13-week night shift contract.
Details
- Antepartum/Postpartum unit located on the 3rd floor of the Women's Tower
- 24-bed unit with a staff of 26, including 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, and 1 unit clerk during the day; no PCTs at night
- Patient ratios of 3:1 to 4:1, occasionally 2:1 depending on acuity
- Common procedures include non-stress tests, hyperemesis management, insulin drips, magnesium administration, and heparin drips
- EMR systems: Meditech and CPN
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Rotating weekend requirement
- No on-call or call requirements
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Current ACLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Current NRP — Advanced 9th Edition required for RNs in Women's Services
- Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN fetal monitoring certification, or NCCEFM, required
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in Antepartum, Postpartum, or L&D
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Previous L&D or Antepartum experience is preferred
- Teamwork-oriented candidates with strong communication skills are the best fit for this unit
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates will not be considered
- First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but prior specialty experience is strongly preferred
