Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for an ICU position in Carlsbad, NM, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience, an active NM or compact RN license, and the ability to float to ER and Med-Surg departments.
Details
- 12-bed ICU unit at a community hospital setting
- Primary ICU patient population requiring total care management
- Patient ratio of 1:2–3
- Float rotation required to the Emergency Room (ER) and Med-Surg (MS) departments
- When floating to the ER, responsibilities include answering call lights, passing meds, transporting patients, starting IVs, and drawing blood — no full patient assignment
- When floating to Med-Surg, a full patient assignment of up to 6 patients may be required, or the nurse may serve in an aide capacity covering up to 12 patients
- Experience with ventilators and titratable drips is expected in this role
- Night shift: 6:30 PM – 6:30 AM
- No on-call required
- 13-week contract
- EMR: MedHost
- Any scrub color is acceptable
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- ER and Med-Surg experience required
- TNCC preferred
- Experience with ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene preferred
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
- Valid US driver's license required
- US Social Security Number required
Additional Information
- Provides total care to ICU patients including ventilator management, titratable drip administration, and hygiene care
- Float log rotation is maintained in the ICU; house supervisor or director may override the float rotation based on departmental needs and individual nurse experience
- Fingerprinting is required for all travelers working in New Mexico — this process can take several weeks
- Holiday coverage is required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
- RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
- Candidates who have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
