Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position at an acute care facility in Nebraska, requiring at least 2 years of hospital Med/Surg experience and a Nebraska or compact RN license.

Details

32-bed acute care facility where Med/Surg, PCU, and ICU patients are all housed in the same unit area
Med/Surg patient population including total joint replacement and abdominal surgical procedure patients
Wound VAC equipment is utilized on the unit
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 for Med/Surg and 1:4 for PCU
12-hour night shifts: 6:45 PM–7:15 AM or 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
Schedule is 4x12-hour shifts per week
May float to the PCU if comfortable and qualified

Requirements

Active Nebraska or compact RN license currently in hand
Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Minimum 2 years of hospital Med/Surg experience required
Experience with total joint replacements required
Experience with abdominal surgical procedures required
2 professional references required for consideration: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor in the specialty within the last 3 years

Additional Information

Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, therapeutic interventions, patient and family education, and facilitating transitions to the next level of care
Care is provided in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
Orientation consists of a 4-hour general traveler orientation, a shadowing shift, and 1 supervised shift with floor staff before independent practice begins
Scrub color requirement: Pewter Grey or Light Turquoise
This is a newer facility, having been open for approximately 2 years
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
