Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ER Holding (Adult Admission Inpatient Unit) position at a Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital in New Mexico, requiring telemetry skills and an active NM or Compact RN license.
Details
- Fast-paced Adult Admission Inpatient Unit (AAU) functioning as an ER holding unit directly adjacent to the Emergency Department
- Accepts admitted patients from the ED and initiates inpatient standard of care until placement on one of 11 progressive care units
- Diverse patient population spanning all specialties except ICU-level acuity
- Unit has 17 beds with up to 8 additional hall beds
- Patient ratio is 1:4-5
- Charting via Cerner
- Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30); 48-hour weeks preferred
- Floating required to areas adjacent to the ED for admitted patients, ICU (SAC assignment), and inpatient PCU areas
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling will be considered
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); RQI certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias
- Ability to manage a variety of medical equipment
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Unit requires the ability to handle frequent patient turnover — both incoming admissions from the ED and outgoing transfers to inpatient units
- Relief charge nurse duties may be required as needed
- Located within a Level I Trauma Center, Children's Hospital, and academic teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Parking is available at no cost
- Black scrubs required and are not provided by the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark at this facility must take a 6-month break before returning
