Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Shock Trauma PACU (ICU) position requiring strong ICU/PACU experience, an MD or compact state license, and availability for alternating day/night shifts including weekends and on-call.
Details
- Work in a 12-bay Shock Trauma PACU unit providing peri-anesthesia care 24/7, 365 days a year
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery across more than 20 surgical and procedural services
- Unit supports the Shock Trauma Center through clinical flexibility, including procedural space and patient overflow from the Trauma Resuscitation Unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Shift schedule is alternating days and nights: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00–19:00) and 3x12-hour night shifts (19:30–07:30); straight nights may be considered
- 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- On-call required: 1–2 twelve-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule (7:00–19:30 or 19:00–07:30)
- Floating required within the specialty, to other units, and to sister facilities within scope
Requirements
- Active MD state RN license or compact license currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Strong ICU and/or PACU experience required (hard stop)
- Competency in vasopressor titration, airway management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation
Additional Information
- This is not a traditional PACU — nurses must be clinically flexible and prepared to manage complex traumatic injury cases
- Unit provides both pre- and post-operative care to outpatients and inpatients in a high-acuity trauma environment
- Any time-off requests must be disclosed at the time of initial consideration
