Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a TJC Stroke-accredited community teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of med/tele experience and cardiac skills.
Details
- 44-bed Medical unit in a 174-licensed-bed, non-trauma, TJC Stroke-accredited community teaching hospital
- Cardiac-focused patient population including chest pain, MI, NSTEMI, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, medical overflow, and potential stroke patients
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5; CNA ratio of 1:8-9
- Manages non-titrating cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin gtts, and blood products
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pump: Alaris | Med Dispensing: Omnicell | Monitors: Philips
- 12-hour night shifts starting at 7pm, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating required throughout Region 2 facilities: Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — do not apply if not agreeable to this requirement
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry reading and interpretation
- General Med/Surg skills required: IV starts, drain/tube management, wound care, NGT placement, and central line management
- At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the last year required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees of any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- Unit orientation consists of a NEO period plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- A clinical interview is required for this position
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- Travel time between facilities when floating mid-shift is compensated
- Unit support includes CNAs, a Receptionist/HUC, a Charge Nurse (typically without a patient assignment), a Team Lead, Clinical Supervisors, Phlebotomy, IV/VAT Team, RT (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and centralized telemetry monitoring (24/7)
- Unit culture is described as patient-centered, collegial, supportive, and hostility-free
