Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/Peds night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience.
Details
- 885-bed Level 1 Trauma academic medical center and teaching hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations
- Assignment in the Respiratory Care department, with placement in ICU or Medical/Surgical areas based on departmental needs and traveler experience
- NICU and Pediatric patient population; common diagnoses include post-surgical, pneumonia, COPD, asthma, and ED cases
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
- Preferred equipment experience: Servo U, Servo Air, The Vest, Volara, Aerogen, Heated High Flow, and Cough Assist; HFJV and HFOV experience preferred for pediatric assignments
- 12-hour night shifts, 18:30–07:00, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation
- No on-call required
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- No floating required — assignments are based on traveler experience and unit needs
- Schedule is set on a 6-week cycle; RTO requires manager approval
Requirements
- Active NC Respiratory Therapy license required if applicable
- RRT credential required (CRT acceptable but not preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy critical care experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- NICU/Peds: Current BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- Adult: Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Experience at a Level 1 Trauma Center and/or high-acuity academic medical center preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
- 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Lead Therapists are present on each shift — both Adult and Pediatric — fostering a collaborative team environment with experienced, tenured staff
- Orientation includes facility-wide NEO followed by 1–2 days of departmental orientation
