Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications, with a mixed patient population including pediatrics and adults across multiple surgical service lines.

Details

• Hospital-based PACU setting with 12 rooms and 27 beds, averaging a daily census of 20 patients
• Patient population spans infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults; most pediatric cases involve tonsils, adenoids, and occasional emergency procedures from the ED
• Surgical services include orthopedic, gynecological, urological, general, spine, vascular, and some eye procedures
• Travelers are typically not assigned to infant cases
• Medication management via Omnicell; documentation via Cerner
• Staggered day shifts starting between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM; unit closes at 19:30
• Night call runs from 22:00 to 07:00; weeknight call is every 5th or 6th night based on unit needs
• Weekend on-call requirement of 2–3 forty-eight-hour weekends every 6 weeks
• Occasional float to Pre-Op
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Acute PACU experience required
• Pediatric experience strongly preferred; candidates without it may be screened out
• Cerner EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include preparing patients for surgery and providing safe post-anesthesia recovery across multiple surgical specialties
• Pediatric ventilator management is not required, as those cases are managed in the ED and transferred out immediately
• The last two nurses on the schedule each shift stay to recover any late cases or stragglers before close
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
• All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
