Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a STEMI and Stroke Certified community hospital, requiring 2 years of recent ED experience and both MO/KS or compact licensure.
Details
- Evening shift position, 3x12-hour shifts, 15:00–03:30
- 13-week contract
- 240-bed community hospital with a 32-room Emergency Department
- Combined adult and pediatric general ED at a STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
- Every third weekend required, covering a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period (8 weekend shifts per period)
- Floating required to all Saint Luke's Health System Metro EDs as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Navy scrubs required
Requirements
- Active MO RN license and KS RN license (or compact equivalent) must be in hand at time of consideration — both are required due to floating between facilities
- Minimum 2 years of recent ED specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- Pediatric skills required: abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, identifying and reporting abuse, infections, mental/behavioral health conditions, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, and UTIs
- Psychiatric skills required: acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, psychiatric hold, and suicidal patient management
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
- Respiratory skills required: chest tube insertion/management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilated patient management
- Medication skills required: continuous IV paralytics, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors
- Neurological skills required: CVA management
- Cardiac and emergency response skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
- Additional required skills: isolation precautions, triage, and splint application/management
- 2 professional references required: one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN — both must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Preferred skills include near drowning (pediatric) and procedural sedation administration
- Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
- Holiday shift coverage required as needed
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
- Pre-employment compliance modules totaling approximately 10–15 hours are required prior to start
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
- Preferred skill: procedural sedation administration
