Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience and an active MO or Compact RN license.

- Setting: Short-term acute care hospital, Magnet-designated and Level I Trauma Center teaching facility
- Unit: Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), high-acuity environment
- Patient population includes acute heart failure, CHF exacerbation, cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrest, complete heart block, arrhythmias (including ventricular tachycardia), fluid overload, and pre-heart transplant patients
- Patient ratio: 1:2
- Procedures and equipment include ventilator management, arterial line management, pulmonary artery (PA) catheter monitoring, transvenous pacemaker (TVP) catheter monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella devices, LVADs, central lines, vasoactive drips, dialysis, and Foley catheters
- Charting via Epic EMR
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the cardiovascular service line may be required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active MO or Compact RN license required (pending license may be accepted — note this on your application)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac/CVICU experience required; neuro ICU experience does not qualify
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to or at start of assignment
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide high-acuity cardiovascular nursing care including management of LVADs, Impella devices, intra-aortic balloon pumps, vasoactive drips, and PA/TVP catheter monitoring
- Scrub color: Navy blue
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract period, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait at least 1 year before returning as a travel nurse
- Travelers may work at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
- Contract length is 13–16 weeks, with 16 weeks preferred; clinicians may work 36 or 48 hours per week
