Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, with proficiency in telemetry interpretation, cardiac procedures, and night shift availability.
Details
- Hospital-based Cardiac Telemetry unit caring for patients with diagnoses such as Congestive Heart Failure, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac catheterization
- Patient population includes pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, and hemodynamic monitoring cases
- Patient ratio of 1:6–7
- Cardiac drips in use include Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem (Diltiazem), Milrinone, and Dopamine
- Specialized procedures include sheath pulls, TR Bands, and Femstop
- Documents using Epic; medications dispensed via Pyxis; SBAR used for communication
- 12-hour night shifts (18:45–07:15), 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- Contract length of 13–26 weeks
- Every other weekend requirement (approximately 5–6 weekend shifts per contract)
- Floating required as needed — potential to float every shift
- Self-scheduling per unit needs
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current ACLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Telemetry AND PCU/DOU/IMC/Step-Down experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and remote monitoring required
- Experience with pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, and sheath removal required
- Skills required include port access, blood product administration, central line/care management, PICC line management, and cardiac drip titration (Diltiazem and Amiodarone)
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Must pass an EKG competency test prior to start
- Nurse Manager interview required prior to offer finalization
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply

- 24-hour unit orientation provided
- Navy scrubs required; not provided by the facility
- RTO requests after booking are not permitted — any call-offs or additional time-off requests on unit may result in contract cancellation
- Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
- Mid-contract consolidation to a centralized office may occur, with possible reassignment to other units as needed
