Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Observation Unit (MedSurg) position requiring a GA or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Details
- Work in a 22-bed Observation Unit (MedSurg) within an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population consists of miscellaneous medical observation cases with high daily discharge and admission volume (up to 16 discharges per day)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6; charge nurse occasionally takes patients
- CNAs available on the unit (2 when possible)
- Heavy telemetry unit with central monitoring; no ventilators
- Heparin is the only titratable drip used on this unit
- MEDITECH EMR in use
- 12-hour day shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation with permanent staff required
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating to Med/Surg required
- 17-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license for Georgia (standard or compact) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS not required but highly recommended
- Med/Surg or Observation Unit experience required
- A valid Driver's License is required for consideration
Additional Information
- RNs perform their own EKGs and draw their own labs
- 3-shift unit-specific orientation provided
- Fast-paced unit with high patient turnover; admissions and discharges are a primary focus
- Required scrub colors: Caribbean Blue top and bottom, white top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all white
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement
- Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Any time-off requests must be disclosed and agreed upon at the start of the assignment
