Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 17-week night shift travel contract on an Oncology unit, requiring a minimum of 2 years of oncology experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on a 29-bed inpatient Oncology unit (7th floor)
- Patient population includes acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end-of-life care
- Outpatient oncology patients may be transferred to the floor to complete treatment when the outpatient area closes
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
- 3 nurse aides generally available per shift
- Charge nurse is outside of the staffing grid except under unusual circumstances
- Telemetry monitoring present via central monitor; ability to read strips is not required
- EMR: MEDITECH
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays rotate with staff
- Floating to medical acute is rare
- 3-day floor-specific orientation provided
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA); NIHSS preferred; ONS certification required if administering chemotherapy
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement
- Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible

- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Time off and scheduling requests are honored only if submitted and confirmed at the start of the assignment
- Any RTO requests must be established prior to the start of the assignment
