Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a strong background in telemetry and progressive care.
Details
- Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC)/Stepdown unit of a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- Patient population includes telemetry, neuro stepdown, and PCU/DOU/Stepdown cases
- Complex patient cases include post-cardiac surgery, craniotomy, CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, ortho trauma, and pre/post neurosurgery
- Required to manage cardiac and vasoactive drips including titration, heparin protocols, PCA, and procedural sedation
- Respiratory responsibilities include care of ventilated patients, tracheostomy management, chest tubes, HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, and ABG interpretation
- IV therapy skills required: central line and PICC line management, arterial lines, port access, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
- Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
- Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (1845–0715); 4x12 schedule may be accommodated
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
- Block scheduling available — discuss with manager
Requirements
- Active Illinois (IL) RN license required — pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted
- ACLS preferred
- Prior experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or stepdown settings required
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of up to 5 days (non-holiday) is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
- All time-off requests should be disclosed upfront
- Scrub color: any solid color
- Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
