Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a large hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ER experience and a WV or compact RN license.
Details
- 20-bed Emergency Department combining adult and pediatric patients
- Large hospital work setting required
- Patient ratio of 1:4, though ratios may fluctuate with census and staffing
- Day shift schedule: alternating weeks of 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30) and 4x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30), totaling 84 hours per two-week pay period
- Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
- Combined adult and pediatric ER environment with psychiatric, respiratory, cardiac, and orthopedic cases
- Skills utilized include triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG, procedural sedation, BiPAP/CPAP management, intubation, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and isolation precautions/PPE
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration — no exceptions
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience required
- 3–6 months of Level IV Trauma or higher experience required
- Current certifications required: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI
- AVADE certification preferred
- Experience managing psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, psychiatric holds, and violent behavior
- Experience with pediatric cases including asthma and respiratory infections
- Two professional references required — one charge nurse or higher and one supervisor — both completed within the last year
- Driver's license with address matching permanent address required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Copies of all certifications required
- Any license hits or background check issues must be disclosed upfront
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required
Additional Information
- Orientation is scheduled on a bi-weekly basis
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be considered, but must be presented upfront — no changes will be accepted after submission
- Must be willing to work either a major or minor holiday during the assignment
- Travelers who have worked within the ARH system for one year must take a minimum 6-month break before being eligible to return
- Travel pairs are accepted on a limited basis; paired travelers will not be placed on the same shift or unit
- Candidates may only be considered for one ARH position at a time
