Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at an acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications with at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• Acute medical unit in a 222-bed hospital setting
• 24-bed MS/Tele unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with general medical, surgical, infectious disease, and non-acute cardiac/telemetry needs
• Patient population includes acutely ill adults and geriatric patients who may require telemetry monitoring for non-acute cardiac conditions
• Day shift: 7:00–19:30, three 12-hour shifts per week, including weekdays and weekends
• No on-call responsibilities
• Staffing ratio of 1:5 on nights; average daily census of 16–18 patients
• Floating required within service line and scope
• Epic EMR — experience preferred
• Procedures include EKG rhythm identification, non-titrating cardiac drips, advanced medication infusions (weaning/decreasing allowed; titrating up is not), and pre/post-procedure evaluation and care

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required — pending IL license is acceptable for consideration (please note at time of application)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Preferred certification: CPI
• Acute care Med/Surg or Telemetry experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include care of acutely ill adult and geriatric patients, neurological assessment, and care of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and TIA patients
• Unit does not accept patients with active/unstable GI bleeding, uncontrolled ischemic chest pain with unstable vital signs, continuous NPPV, or drips including Tenecteplase (TNK), insulin drip, Neosynephrine, or Nipride
• Navy scrubs required; free parking available on-site
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may work up to 18 months continuously before requiring a 3-month break in service
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
