Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN for a travel contract at a Level II Trauma Center in Florida, with on-call requirements and strong neurological and cardiovascular PACU skills.

• PACU unit within a Level II Trauma Center hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (9:00–19:00)
• Every other weekend required, or approximately 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period based on unit needs
• On-call required: 4–6 night calls per 6-week period, plus on-call every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday); weekday call hours are 11p–7a, weekend call hours are 7a–7p or 7p–7a
• Rotation to Phase II PACU outpatient discharge area required as needed
• Floating required to all four affiliated hospitals within the health system (Cape Canaveral, Holmes Regional, Palm Bay, and Viera); traveler will have a home base but may float to any of the four locations
• Documentation system: SCM (Sunrise Clinical Manager)
• Block scheduling may be accommodated based on unit need with manager approval prior to offer

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required — no pending licenses accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of PACU RN experience required
• Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Proficient-to-expert level skills in neurological and cardiovascular PACU competencies required
• Experience titrating drips required
• Must reside within 30 minutes of the hospital to fulfill on-call obligations
• 2 professional references from authority figures (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) within the past year required for consideration
• Flu vaccine required between 10/31 and 3/31 (medical and religious exemptions accepted)

Additional Information

• Rotation between PACU and Phase II outpatient discharge is part of routine responsibilities
• Travelers are assigned a home base hospital but must be prepared to float to any of the four system hospitals within scope of practice
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates who have previously held an internal contracted position with this health system must wait 1 year after their departure before being eligible
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• All RTO must be finalized and submitted upfront; no RTO requests will be accepted after an offer is made
• Scrubs must be any solid color with matching top and bottom — no mixed colors, logos, or prints
• Free parking is provided with a decal issued at orientation
