Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a STEMI and Stroke Certified community hospital, requiring 2 years of recent ED experience and active MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Emergency Department of a 240-bed community hospital with 32 ED rooms
- Combined adult and pediatric general emergency department at a STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
- Every third weekend required, covering a combination of Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday (8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period)
- Floating may be required to all SLHS Metro EDs and between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed
- Epic EMR experience required
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
Requirements
- Active RN license in both Kansas and Missouri, or a compact license, must be in hand at time of consideration — unwillingness to hold both licenses may result in cancellation
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent ED specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
- Required clinical skills include: pediatric emergency care (asthma, burns, head injury, seizures, sickle cell crisis, mental/behavioral health, and more), psychiatric emergencies (acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, managing violent behavior), IV therapy and phlebotomy (arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration), respiratory management (chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, intubation, ventilator management, ABG interpretation), emergency and vasoactive medications (IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation and paralytics), neurological emergencies including CVA, cardiac monitoring (12-lead EKG acquisition, dysrhythmia interpretation and management), triage, and isolation precautions
- Preferred skills include: near drowning management and procedural sedation administration
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 2 professional references required: one must be supervisor-level or above, the second may be a Charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
- SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Navy scrubs required
- Candidates may be required to complete 10–15 hours of compliance modules prior to their start date
- RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
- Travel partners are not accepted for this position
