Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Acute Care position at a hospital in Albany, GA, requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute care Med/Surg experience and active GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Acute Care Med/Surg unit (14-bed unit) in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes admission hold patients from the ED, medical observation overflow patients, and discharge-pending patients
- Patients may include those pending dialysis prior to discharge
- Unit does not care for patients requiring IV drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, dobutamine, insulin, or vasopressors), inmates, patients with active infections requiring isolation precautions, or PACU/MedOps patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5; unit is staffed with both RNs and LPNs, with 1 CNA on the unit
- Oxygen delivery via nasal cannula; no ventilator, CPAP, BiPap, or high-flow oxygen management required
- No telemetry monitoring or strip-reading responsibilities
- Standard drips used on unit include heparin and Lasix; RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Charge Nurse is present each shift and may take a patient assignment
- 12-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM; unit closes Friday at 7 PM and is closed on weekends
- Holidays are not required unless they fall on a weekday
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating to the Med/Surg unit is possible if census is low
- EMR: MEDITECH
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an acute care Med/Surg setting
- Basic Med/Surg skills required; cardiac experience is a plus
- Driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include medication administration (IV and PO), admission database documentation, blood sugar monitoring, pain management, providing nourishment, O2 administration via nasal cannula, and assisting with complex toileting needs
- Orientation typically consists of 3 unit-specific shifts
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Any requested time off must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
- Scrub color requirement: Caribbean Blue top and bottom, white top with Caribbean Blue bottom, or all-white top and bottom
- Albany, GA is located approximately 175 miles from Atlanta, 88 miles from Tallahassee, FL, and 134 miles from Shell Point Beach, FL
