Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PACU position at a Level II Trauma Center in Green Bay, WI, requiring at least 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience and CAPA or CPAN certification.
Details
- Works in a Perianesthesia unit spanning two PACU locations (Main and East) within the same building, with daily staffing assignments directing which unit to report to
- Main PACU features 33 pre/post rooms and 10 Phase I bays; East PACU features 33 pre/post rooms and 17 Phase I bays
- Handles a combined daily census of approximately 60–80 patients across both PACUs
- Patient population includes both pediatric and adult patients, spanning inpatient, outpatient, and observation status
- Case types include general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery (spine and craniotomies), robotics, ophthalmology, ortho, cardiothoracic (thoracotomies/pericardial windows, no open hearts), ENT, endovascular, fistulas, bronchs, post-cath, and post-IR/Neuro IR
- Occasionally may have intubated patients or assist with intubation in the PACU
- Patient ratios: Pre-op 1:3, Phase I 1:2, Phase II 1:3
- EMR: Epic (required)
- IV Pump: Alaris; Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
- Travelers float regularly between Phase I and Phase II Recovery across Main and East PACUs
- Set schedule, Monday–Friday, 8-hour evening shifts (1200–2030)
- No weekend rotation, no on-call or call-back requirements, and no holiday coverage expectations
Requirements
- Active WI or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and either CAPA or CPAN
- Minimum 2 years of Phase I and Phase II PACU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Experience recovering post-cath, bronch, and IR patients highly preferred; candidates with minimal or no experience in these areas require manager approval
- Hard stop skills required: arterial lines, TR bands, chest tubes, CBI, and Epic charting
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips
- Experience providing discharge instructions and working both Phase I and Phase II recovery
- Epic EMR experience required
- At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN collected within the last year
- Candidate must provide date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN for consideration
- Candidate middle name or initial required for consideration
- Former employees of Advocate Health or any subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
Additional Information
- Provides Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery care to a diverse surgical patient population including peds and adults
- Responsibilities include reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms, managing cardiac drips, and delivering discharge instructions
- Department is supported by a Charge RN, management, CNA/LPN staff (primarily in pre-op and Phase II), Hospitalists 24/7, RT 24/7, Anesthesiologists/CRNAs, and Surgeons
- Bedside and nursing station telemetry available; no dedicated telemetry technician
- Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 eight-hour shifts in the department
- All staff are expected to assist with stocking, cleaning, and additional tasks as needed regardless of role
- RTO limited to no more than 4 days for the duration of the assignment
- Scrubs must be a solid color, professional — no logos, graphics, or designs
- Free on-site parking available
- Local candidates are accepted
- First-time travelers may be considered with extensive PACU experience
- Previously worked as staff in the Aurora BayCare PACU — not eligible for this position
