Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a travel position at a large academic Magnet hospital, requiring at minimum 2 years of OR experience with a strong focus on Hepatobiliary, Whipple, Abdominal Organ Transplant, and complex Neuro/Spine/ENT procedures.

- Short-term acute care hospital setting with 1,259 staffed beds
- Operating Room with 17 rooms and an average daily census of 20–28 patients
- Subspecialty case mix includes Hepatobiliary, Whipple, Abdominal Organ Transplant, complex Spine, ENT, Neuro, and intra-abdominal transplant procedures
- Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 10:30–23:00
- Every other weekend required
- On-call required after shift until 06:30, including possible weekend call; response time within 45 minutes
- On-call volume is dependent on unit needs and averages approximately one 12-hour weekday call shift and one weekend (Sat & Sun) call shift per 6-week schedule
- Floating required within skill set level to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting via Epic
- Hospital-provided scrubs
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of OR experience required
- Extensive experience with Hepatobiliary, Whipple, and Abdominal Organ Transplant procedures required
- Proficiency in complex Spine, ENT, Neuro, and intra-abdominal transplant cases required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are considered only if they have experience in Neuro, Spine, or ENT
- If on call past midnight, team members receive up to 8 hours of rest time before potentially being called back in for shift relief, lunches, or breaks
- Epic EMR experience is required for this unit
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travelers may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates (within 75 miles of the facility) are not accepted
